Interview: Confidence Man
Brisbane’s most theatrical musicians, Confidence Man, have released an album that is sure to fast track the dance back into a reemerging world.
TILT sees Sugar Bones, Janet Planet, Clarence McGuffie and Reggie Goodchild tackle the sophomore scaries with ease, creating an exciting collection that hinges on surprise and delight – possibly a result from their impromptu-style creation.
“We really had a good thing going at one point where we just sort of get the little crappy, like USB mic out at 3:00 AM and yeah, there was some gold mind out there at those time,” said Sugar Bones of their end of the night sessions.
Through working with Gregg Alexander (of New Radicals), the group leant into his ‘just go with it’ mentality, leaving method and planning behind.
“That was definitely good for us to just be able to just do whatever we wanted and sort of like open up the horizons for Con Man,” said Sugar Bones.
Confidence Man are also gearing up to hit the road for an epic run of dates across the UK, Europe and back to Australia; even supporting Oasis’ Noel Gallagher along the way.
Known for their on-stage gaffs and bizarre choreography, the tour is one to put on your 2022 bucket list.
